About CASPeR

CASPeR was a Clinical Assessment and Peer Review service, which we ran across Hartlepool, Stockton, and Darlington. 

Launched in August 2017, the service acted as a second pair of eyes for referrals to eight specialisms, by assessing the latest clinical guidance. The aim was to reduce variation across the area and to help patients to get access to the right specialists, in the right place, at the right time. 

In July 2018, we were commissioned to expand the service and take on four extra specialties: General Surgery, Geriatric Medicine, Neurology, and Respiratory.

The services was closed in July 2020.
