In the Autumn of 2015 a number of local GPs began to talk about the benefits of working together, to benefit the local population and to strengthen general practice in Hartlepool and Stockton. At the start of 2016, the Board of 4 GPs and a practice manager were elected by their peers, and the Hartlepool & Stockton Health GP Federation was formed. Our shareholders are all GPs in local surgeries, and we are proud to say that every practice in Hartlepool and Stockton is a shareholder and member of the Federation.
We quickly established strong relationships with Hartlepool and Stockton Clinical Commissioning Group and with our local authorities, who commission the majority of healthcare services locally. We attend the Health and Wellbeing Boards in both towns and represent our members at both practice and primary care network level.
Our aims are to create a strong voice for primary care, understanding the needs of our local residents and making sure wherever possible, we are working to develop services that help improve the health of the population.
