COVID-19 Antibody Testing

Further information on your COVID Antibody Test

As a valued member of a Primary Care team across our locality, thank you for choosing the H&SH Antibody Testing service for your COVID Antibody Test.

You have received a text message to let you know your results, we also need to let you know that;

-The presence of antibodies to COVID-19 is not the equivalent of being immune to COVID-19 but indicates exposure to the COVID-19 virus at some point.

-It may take over 30 days following exposure for antibodies to develop and become detectable.

-It is not known how long antibodies to COVID-19 will last in the body or what quantity are required to be considered to produce immunity. We know from other coronaviruses that they do not produce a strong antibody response and that antibodies do not persist for more than a number of months. It is essential that irrespective of the test that people remain bio-secure, continue to social distance according to prevailing guidance and wear PPE as appropriate.

-There are no current plans to offer repeat testing for antibodies to staff or the general public.
