About RISEIn the twelve months to December 2022, more than one in five GPs under 30 left the profession. If we want to improve the health and wellbeing of local people, we need a strong GP team. The RISE (Retain, Innovate, Support, Educate) scheme is a Tees Valley wide programme, designed to improve GP retention by providing ring-fenced time for learning, peer support, and coaching, as well as funding for CPD activities. Tees Valley RISE was launched in June 2023 and we now have 32 GPs in our initial three cohorts. In our first two-year pilot group, every single GP is still working in local General Practice. Our team of Clinical Leads, who are all local GPs themselves, designed the programme carefully to ensure that we are delivering a flexible scheme that suppors and complements clinical practice. Feedback from the scheme has been fantastic, with GPs commenting on the positive changes in their own health and wellbeing. |
